40 Weeks...

Ahh 40 weeks. The time has come. And gone. And now we sit and wait on every little movement. This past Sunday marked the first day that I was really uncomfortable. It carried on through Wednesday to be honest with you. In my opinion this baby is big enough to come out.  He/she is all up in my ribs and there is clearly no where else to go except out. :) I think that is a good idea, don't you?
Andy asks me everyday, "When's that baby going to come out?" My reply is usually the same--"If I knew that, I wouldn't be so anxious and cranky." or something similar to that. :) I know we are all excited. You have all been there as well, so for now let me just say that we'll let you know if anything happens. :)
I have an appointment today to do a non-stress test and an ultrasound where I'll get to see baby. Hopefully all is well so that there is no need to induce or start anything unnaturally. I want this baby to come out, but I don't want to mess with anything unless there is something wrong.
The 40 week picture looks the same as last week to me. Lucy is getting pretty excited as you can tell. I hope she can survive the adjustment process. Poor little pup doesn't know what she's in for.
I hope you are all enjoying your holiday season. We are sad that we won't be spending the holidays with any of you, but we cannot wait to head back to MN at the end of January.

Hopefully the next post will bring good news of baby Martinson!!!

39 Weeks...

As we close we 39, I'm starting to get anxious about when this baby will arrive.  Every cramp, "gas bubble", back pain, and/or other movement makes me stop and think about what is really happening. Being "off the clock" has definitely helped out in the fact that I can rest, clean the house, bake cookies (and freeze them for later of course), and just get other things done that I haven't been able to do for awhile. I am in heaven...well almost. This week brings nothing new or exciting; Andy and I are just waiting to give you all the good news.  I hope all of you back in MN are enjoying all of the fluffy snow! We are wishing we were there to enjoy it too.

Hope you all have a great week!

38 Weeks!

Yikes! It is getting extremely close! As of last week, 11/27/12, I was 38 weeks along. I was still feeling normal, not too tired or big, but come this weekend it all kind of began to change slowly.  Currently, which is actually almost 29 weeks, I feel GIGANTIC. Here are a list of complaints for the week:)....both my hands have now been taken over by tingling numbness pretty much all day long, my legs are puffy again, I can't make it around the "big" pond without taking a break or two, my gums hurt more than ever, and I'm back to feeling nauseous suddenly when I am hungry. :(Boo---Maybe this means that things are moving in the right direction?!?!? As of my last appointment this past Thursday, there was no sign of baby wanting to come out, but I'll be sure to keep you post.

Also, this was my first week "off" of work, and it was amazing! I got so much stuff done! I ran errands, created more freezer meals, organized a few more baby items, FINALLY wrote more thank-you's, got some much needed rest, and even worked on some items for work (on my own time of course). I love accomplishing things that you need to but haven't had the time and/or energy to. It just makes me feel great!

I hope you all have a wonderful week! Enjoy the warmer weather (we've been in the 80's the past 2/3 days) and keep thinking happy baby thoughts!

Andy's favorite pastime...or so it seems!

Since the beginning of summer Andy has been running with the dog and walking her almost daily. It has really been great for everyone involved. He of course loves to run around the pond that is near our house. This past week, we went for a walk and he took some pictures of the ducks/birds on the pond. He loves to tell me which ones are which. Can you tell what kind each is?

Week 35, 36, and 37...

The last few weeks have gone by SO fast I cannot believe it! As you can tell from the pictures, I am always tired (whether I have slept, can sleep, or whatever--always tired). I have also begun to wind down my hours at work and meet with the midwife once a week. So far baby has not dropped nor is there any progress on the labor situation. :) This is good though. I am still struggling a big with keeping my blood sugar down at nighttime, so I might have to go back and readjust how/when I am eating. Although, I think it will be easier once I stop working until 5:30-6:00.  No, I have no idea of what it is, boy or girl. Andy thinks it's a boy, and people still tell me both, so I've got nothing...what are your thoughts? Other than that, Andy and I are pretty much as ready as we can be for baby I guess. Now let the waiting game begin...

Week 35-This was obviously election week. :)

36 Weeks- I'm pretty sure I had at least 2 freak outs this week, but not to worry, calm, relaxed Andy made me feel better.:)

37 Weeks- The day after Thanksgiving was nice and relaxing after a long day of cooking! I tell you, it was SO much work for just two people, but I know that we will be eating the leftovers for at least a week! Plus, I'll have a meal or two to freeze for when baby makes an appearance! YAY! (For those of you who are wondering--yes, I portioned out my carbs/sugars although it was VERY hard!)

Happy Thanksgiving to ya'll! I hope you enjoyed lots of food, family, and fun! We are thankful for everyone in our lives and cannot wait for our move back in 2 months!! It will be here in no time!

34 Weeks!

Happy Halloween! (Well, 1 week late I guess!)
I had a busy weekend with work and the Day of the Dead/Cirque Du Horror celebration down at the square, so we kept it low key and relaxed on Sunday by making yummy chicken noodle soup and carving pumkins. Here are the results:

Can you guess who carved what? I thought they turned out pretty good!
On actual Halloween night we stayed in and handed out candy. It was pretty fun and Andy really enjoyed seeing all the kids and answering the door. I was kind of a Scrooge and bought only one bag of candy (it was a large bag from Sam's club, so give me SOME credit). I just couldn't handle it being in the house and not being able to snack on it. :) Anyway, we  had so many trick-or-treaters that we ran out of candy in about an hour. It was the first time we have actually had trick-or-treaters at any of the places that we have lived at, so I consider it a success!

This last week I was 34 weeks! Yikes--only 6 weeks until my actual due date! It is kind of scary when you think about it. This last weekend we had birthing class on Saturday, so we are probably as ready as we can be I guess. (hahaha)
As you can see, I've moved a few baby items and such into the bedroom so that we are ready if anything happens early. I hope you all have a fabulous first week of November!

One more treat!

Oops! I wanted to take many photos when we were home in MN but I simple forgot, the one that I like the most is this---Mindy and Blair (and Jackie) were SO kind to host a baby shower for me when we were there. I cannot even begin to tell you how awesome it was to see (mostly) all my girlfriends! Those invited were my closest and I seriously cherish all of your friendships! Thank you for attending! You really don't know how much it meant that you came :)!!! Also, thank you to the girls for such a fun, creative, and delicious shower! I couldn't have asked for more!

Love you girls!!!

28 -33 Weeks!

Wow! I am beyond behind on my blogging duties here! I guess I was just so excited to get to MN for our vacation that I was just focusing on that! I was also working A LOT before we left for vacation so I'm sure that didn't help things at all. Anyway, here are the pics from 28- 33 weeks. (with the exception of week 31--this is when we were in MN!)

Unfortunately I did not get a chance to take a picture this week, but I did create a poster for it so that I didn't miss it!

This picture was taken right before we left for the airport at like 5 in the morning. I am obviously still sleeping. :) It was baby's first flight (in womb).

Once we returned to TX from our MN vacation, we both definitely needed another vacation. Boy, was it hard to adjust to work life again. Many things occurred that made me stressed out a bit I must admit! For 3 days AFTER the flight, I had "kankles" like I had never seen before! It was WEIRD! Normally, I have skinny ankles/feet and you can see every vein/bone in there, however, it was a much different and uncomfortable story for those 3 days. Since then, they have actually gone away and the only swelling that I have now is directly in my toes.
Another thing that I have had to deal with during this pregnancy is gestational diabetes. For those of you who don't know what this is, gestational diabetes is just that--I have type 1 diabetes when I am pregnant. The simple explanation is that because I carry the gene for diabetes (thanks grandpa!) I am more likely to have this when I am pregnant than others. During this time, my pancreas does not process glucose (sugars) like it normally does, which causes the baby to receive more sugar from me and make more insulin for himself. This can be dangerous if left untreated, but as of right now, things are looking to be okay. I have to record and regulate when and what I eat all day. I also have to check my blood sugar 4 times a day (1 fasting and 3 after meals). This has become a huge pain in the rear and I was VERY upset about it at first, but now, I have learned to deal with it better and realize that there could be MUCH worse things that I could be dealing with. I now have a new found respect for those who have to do this for the rest of their lives!!!!
(Let's hope that I can be responsible enough to keep myself healthy through my adult life so that I don't develop this later in life!)

After a VERY busy and LONG day at work (there was a festival on our street at work which allowed for record breaking sales!) I was forced to create this picture so that I didn't miss another week. I have finally started to take actual naps! YAY!  This makes me feel better because I was worried about when the baby comes---how in the world would I learn how to nap!!! Yikes!

27 Weeks!

27 weeks and I think that I am finally up to date on pictures! Nothing new or exciting happened with baby this week. I can tell that he/she is getting bigger as my tummy is starting to be slightly lopsided (although I think I am the only one that can notice this right now).  It is still such a weird and amazing concept that a little baby is growing inside of me.  :)
This is a pic of baby a few weeks ago (25 weeks).  He/she still was not cooperating for pictures, but I like this one because I think that he/she is smiling and waving at us---"Hi everyone! I cannot wait to meet you all!" Maybe it's just me being biased, but I've got this pic on our refrigerator and I smile every time I go to the fridge for a snack and whatnot. :) Heheh...Happy Sunday to you all!

Randomness...

Andy and I have been so busy with our work these past few weeks, we have hardly done anything outside of staying in, making dinner, and watching some flicks. We were so excited when Mindy came this past week!! It will help the next month go by super fast so that we can get to our MN October visit! (We seriously cannot wait!!!)  Anyway, here are a few photos from this summer that I found. Enjoy!
Our very first baby item!!! The "crib" for baby come December! (We were very excited, can't you tell?!)

Captain Andy finally getting his time back out on the boat. (It has been too hot for me to bare, but we braved it a couple of mornings before it got too hot!)

Again, finally spending some time together after too many hours working.

My loves!

One of the many Ranger's games we got to go to this summer!

Another Ranger's game---Twins win!!!

September Visitor!

Oh how wonderful it is to have great friends who have the ability to come and visit us here in Texas! I am SO thankful for everyone who has already made it. I know it is hard for many reasons--time, money, life, --but still so thankful! This week Mindy came to visit us! I have been waiting for this all summer! We had a fun-filled weekend with plenty of time at the pool to catch up, a visit to Fort Worth Stockyards which included a rodeo, and an automobile and antiques show on the square in Denton.  I wish we could have done more, but time goes by so fast when you're having fun! Here are a few pictures to capture the weekend.
We caught a parade with a few celebrities!

Ahhh---sunbathing!!

Don't mind my awesome face, I wasn't feeling to great that day. :)

Enjoying the unusually BEAUTIFUL weather Saturday night down on the square.

26 weeks!

This week my girl Mindy comes to visit! I cannot wait to see her, have some girlie time, and take a few days off of work! It is going to be great!
Unfortunately, I had my last freak out with getting my rings on and off this weekend. I'm pretty sure that it is not an option to even put them on anymore because I am so terrified if they will come off later. This makes me upset. I just want to wear my rings darnit! Oh well, I guess there could be worse things...Other than that, there have been no weird cravings, or issues.

25 Weeks!

During week 25 I began feeling a bit swollen after a long day on my feet. It really became noticeable because not only could I feel it, but you could see it, AND my shoes were a bit snug as well. My hands were beginning to do the same thing as well. I took the 1 hour glucose screening test this week, but I have to wait about a week for the results.  (PS--Lucy is pretty excited to be a big sister. HaHa!)

August 23, 2012

24 Weeks!

As of 8/21/12 I am 24 weeks, so I am now up to date on the posts.  Something I didn't mention about last week is that the baby has begun to kick and move nonstop. It is great, except when I'm trying to sleep at 2-4 in the morning! It has happened quite a bit where I have been getting up at this time in the morning and I am unable to go back to sleep. Almost every time this happens I am: a) hungry! b) feeling the baby move like crazy and c)having to use the restroom. I'm sure this is preparation for when baby decides to make his/her appearance, but right now it is weird and kind of annoying. Ohh, well...there is a prize at the end of the tunnel! We cannot wait to meet you bebe!

Oh yeah, and this week the baby is as long as an ear of corn...whatever that means! (Where do they come up with some of these references?!?!!? HaHa!)

23 Weeks!

Hello, I know that I am a week behind, but here is the picture for week 23.

I've had a lot of back aches this week, but the heat pad and message pads work wonders! Thanks Mom for sending it to me!! :)
I have also suddenly become starving all the time again! I think the baby is going through a growth spurt!

August 16, 2012

22 Weeks!

Lucy had to get in this picture. She just loves the attention. :) I hope she doesn't have a hard time adjusting to not being the only spoiled child in the household! I have been trying to ignore her a bit lately to get her used to not being attended to immediately all the time. I hope it works!
At 22 weeks, nothing really changed except baby has been kicking SO much more than I remember feeling. It is so weird, but so great to feel because I know that he/she is getting bigger. :)

August 2, 2012

21 Weeks!

Well, I think it is safe to say, "Let the countdown begin!"
This week we went to the doctor and saw baby again.  Even though we didn't find out what we were having, we definitely found out that baby is growing and has all arms, legs, hands, and feet. :) We didn't get any great pictures of baby because he/she was on his/her belly the entire time. What a stinker! He/she also decided to get strong enough for me to feel those jabs he/she/s been giving me.  (Now that I know where baby is in my belly, it is easier to distinguish which is baby and which is just tummy rumblings.) Hopefully, they will get big enough for Andy to feel soon so that he doesn't feel so left out. :)

PS-- I know it is hotter than normal in many places across the U.S. but it has taken a turn here in TX--- 100++ all this week. It's quite terrible. Andy and I like to think of it as a MN winter only it is worse because there is only so much clothing you can take off before it becomes publicly inappropriate. (Even then you are still sweating like crazy.) Ugh, I'm ready for it to be fall. :) Anyway, happy weekend to you all!

(Hey Jackie- Do you recognize the t-shirt!?!)

July 25, 2012

20 Weeks

Yay for half way! We are officially 20 weeks pregnant! Now, all we have to do is wait PATIENTLY for the next appointment, which is next Wednesday, August 1st. It's an important one and I just cannot wait!

This week the baby is as big as a banana. If that is truly the case, then it makes sense that I am feeling full all time, taking deep breaths, and needing back massages daily. To add to this, I am also still feeling the heartburn and getting more leg cramps in the morning. I'm definitely not having any weird cravings, but I still like to eat, in small quantities that is!!
That's all for now. I hope you have a fabulous week!

A Little Humor

So, lately I have been having either really good days or really bad days. One of my best friends Mindy decided to send this link to me. I thought it was something helpful at first, but after a few minutes of reading I was tearing up with laughter. (Seriously, Andy came home to a loony bird.) It did, however, make my day brighter. So, I thought I would share it with all of you.

19 Weeks

I know this is a week late, but here is the 19 week photo.

I've been having heartburn and leg cramps at night now. It's lots of fun. :) HaHa! Baby is supposedly the size of a tomato this week.:)

July 14, 2012

Happy Birthday Andy!

So, in the midst of catching up with my posts, I completely forgot to post pictures on Andy's birthday! We did not, however, forget to celebrate his birthday.  On Friday, the 6th we went to the Twins/Ranger's game and the Twins actually WON!!! It was great! After the game they put on some great fireworks; it was a fun way to celebrate the 4th and Andy's birthday together.  Then, on Monday, we decided to stay in a grill a delicious meal-- filet minon, sauteed mushrooms and onions, roasted red potatoes, and asparagus---MMMMMM it's making my mouth water again just thinking about it.
Oh, and we had cake and ice cream too. :0 ) I didn't get very creative because I worked all day/weekend as well, but it sure was delicious!

18 Weeks!

Here is the 18 week update. I can honestly say that I feel pregnant now.  I'm not sure if I have felt baby yet, but I know he/she is in there having a good time, otherwise my belly would not be expanding like it is.  Have a happy weekend!

July 10, 2012

A New Addition!

For the past few months, we have held a secret from everyone (it's much easier to do since we are states apart!)--we are expecting! It's so nice to say those words out loud and be excited about it! Anyway, even though most of you already know, baby is due December 12, 2012.  Our next doctor's visit is August 1st (21 weeks), and I am hoping that all goes well, we see a healthy baby on the sono, and they don't change our due date! Here are a few pictures that we have been taking along the way. ( I look like a dork, but these things must be documented so I am putting the fact that I'm not a fan of them aside!)

Baby's first picture:)--gummy bear!

This was taken right before we left for our vacation--can you tell I'm in a great mood? :)

Also, we skipped 2 weeks of pictures because we were on vacation, but I think it is okay. It is obvious that I am beginning to show. So far, two strangers have asked me when I was due. (It was quite a shock at first, but I think it actually makes me feel better because now I feel a bit more pregnant and a little less "fat".)
Now that I consistently have something to blog about, I will be posting more frequently!

My How Time Flies! (Pt 2)

So, I decided to break this up into two parts. After the crazy travels through Duluth, we finally made it through to Andy's parents, just outside of Silver Bay. Since my parents had no camper and barely any of their things, they stayed with us at Tom and Jan's too! It ended up being a great week with family. On Saturday we had a party for Andy's dad for his retirement and Log Cabin accomplishments!
Walking by Andy's parents' house. Yes, that water it high!

Lucy and Nelly--very cute!

Andy and my dad checking out the flooded river--just yards from the Martinson's house.
(Isn't this a cute pic?)

River leading to Lake Superior. Don't stand too close to the rocky edge!

More water.

Traveling from the house to the cabin. Lucy's first ride in the very back of the Tucson--hilarious if I say so myself!

Cutie pie Ella in the sand!

Mack and Nelly taking a nap--too cute!

On the way to the cabin. Tom had to get out and "test the water" to make sure it wasn't too deep for our vehicles.HaHa!

One happy family--growing!

Happy birthday to my dad! How great it was to be able to celebrate with him!
